March 17, 2018 - 8:27 am

UMBC has become the first No. 16 seed ever to beat a No. 1 seed in the men's NCAA Tournament, and the Retrievers did it in a rout. Jairus Lyles poured in 23 of his 28 points in the second half and led a 17-3 run that send UMBC to a stunning 74-54 win over first overall seed Virginia. The game was tied until the Retrievers outscored the Cavaliers 53-33 to end a 135-game winning streak by No. 1 seeds in the tournament.
