Several baseball players from the area were in action Wednesday in the minor leagues:

*Former Wichita State infielder Sam Hilliard is in Triple-A with the Colorado Rockies. Hilliard was 3-for-5 at the plate, including a 3-run home run, and his 22nd double of the season. In his last 10 games, Hilliard is batting .410, with 13 RBI and 12 runs. He is tied for the lead in the Pacific Coast League with 27 home runs.

*Former Wichita State outfielder Dayton Dugas is in Single-A with the Detroit Tigers. Dugas was 2-for-5, with a run driven in, and a double. Dugas is batting .317 for the West Michigan Whitecaps.

*Former Wichita State pitcher Cody Tyler is in Single-A with the San Diego Padres. Tyler tossed two scoreless innings, giving him a 1.91 ERA this season for the Fort Wayne TinCaps.

*Nate Scantlin from Rose Hill is in Rookie ball with the Cincinnati Reds. Scantlin was 2-for-5 with a run, his third straight multi-hit game. Scantlin is batting .333 in the month of July.

*Former Wichita State pitcher Clayton McGinness, drafted last month, is in Rookie ball with the Baltimore Orioles. McGinness pitched one scoreless inning. In his professional career, he has appeared in four games, pitched six innings, and has not yet given up any runs (0.00 ERA).
